This Week at Birralee

We are wrapping up another exciting week at Birralee. We've posted a few snippets below from some different learning activities that took place througout this week. Please also make sure to download the Frog app so you get full insight into your child's school life at Birralee!

Year 4 enjoyed a game of Kinn-ball during their P.E. lesson this week. Kinn-ball is played with a large inflatable ball (1.2 metres). Besides physical activity, it promotes sportsmanship, cooperation, social-inclusion and teamwork.

Year 3 visited Sverresborg Folk Museum this week. They had a lot of fun learning about how to build traditional houses and cabins, spotting rotting wood and working as a team lafting that they stayed an extra 35 minutes!

With Easter just around the corner, there have been several sightings of the legendary Birralee Bird "Big Chick" this week. Here he is photographed while interrupting a lesson in Year 1.

Asian Cuisine in the School Kitchen this week as Year 8 prepared stir fry noodles with vegetables in Food Technology.

A big THANK YOU to all Year 1 - Year 3 students who spontaneously helped clearing the playground, collecting all the plastic debris that had accumulated during the snowy winter months.

The IMYC Maths Department organised a little friendly competition in celebration of International Maths Day, aka Pi Day, this Thursday. The student or teacher who could recite the most digits of Pi would win a pie to share with their class. Needless to say, the playground was buzzing with numbers during playtime today. The winner could recite no less than 312 digits! That is:

Year 8, 9 and 10 had their outdoor day at Vassfjellet today. For many of our students it was their first time on alpine skis. We were impressed by the students resilience and learning curves!

Years 4, 5 and 6 had the pleasure of meeting Camilla Dahlstrøm this week. Camilla is the author of the popular Norwegian children's book Tvilingene.

Camilla talked about the process of writing and shared tips for our students on how to improve their own writing.

We are convinced that the visit has encouraged our students to read and write even more!
