Positive Covid-19 Case in Year 8

Dear Birralee Families,

Unfortunately we have been informed today that we have had a positive Covid-19 case in Year 8. We have not yet had any instruction from Trondheim Kommune’s smittesporring, but based on previous cases we anticipate that the Year 8 students and teachers will be placed in quarantine with further instructions regarding testing to follow.

We have therefore decided that all Year 8 students and their teachers will be learning and working from home tomorrow.

At this point, the timeline of events and the implications for our students and staff are not completely clear to us. We are therefore taking the precautionary measure to also temporarily withdraw several other teachers from lessons who were with Year 8 last week.

Due to this precautionary measure, students in Years 7, 9 and 10 will have digital home learning tomorrow as the majority of their teachers will not be in school until we have received further instructions. Please note that at this point, we do not expect the students in Years 7, 9 and 10 to be placed into quarantine. As soon as we receive more information from smittesporing, we will contact all of our families with updated information.

As with previous cases, we will provide home learning for all of our students using Google Classroom, Seesaw and Google Meet. Students will follow their normal school timetable since this will minimise the disruption to their learning.
