Moving from Amber to Green (even though the rates of infection are increasing)

It has been decided by Trondheim Kommune that schools in Trondheim will move to Level Green from Monday. There are several reasons for this:

1. The rules on Amber Level are stricter than the rules that are currently applied to the rest of society.

2. The traffic light model for schools was designed in a time with little infection in society and before the vaccine was available. With the current level of infections in society being so high, Amber Level would do little to help stop the spread of infection. At the same time, the measures put in place under Amber Level do have a significant impact on the children’s everyday life.

3. If schools remain on Amber (or even Red), staffing in schools would become so difficult that schools would have to close and the children would have to follow digital home learning.
